Actor Alec Baldwin tweeted Friday his “heart is broken” after a woman was killed in an accidental shooting on a film set in New Mexico.
Officials say the prop gun Baldwin fired contained a live round that struck and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust.
The director of the movie, Joel Souza, also was hit and was taken to hospital for treatment. He later was released.
“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours,” Baldwin tweet Friday morning.

According to the Associated Press, a spokesperson for Baldwin said the prop gun — which was to be filled with blanks — misfired when the 63-year-old actor pulled the trigger.
Detectives are investigating, but no charges had been filed as of Friday morning.
