The Regina Police Service is searching for a man who tried to abduct a nine-year-old girl Friday afternoon.
Police say the incident happened just after 12:30 p.m., as the girl was walking to school in the area of 12th Avenue North and Fairview Road in the Uplands neighbourhood.
The girl reported she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her, but she was able to get away and run to her school to report the incident. She said a red truck was parked nearby, but was running and had a door open.
The girl wasn’t physically hurt.
The man is described as white, 40 to 50 years of age, approximately six feet tall with brown/grey medium-length hair and tattoos on both arms. He was wearing a tank top and dirty, stained pants.
Schools in the area were notified and the police presence around the schools was increased.
Police are asking anyone in the Uplands area who has surveillance cameras to review their footage for any suspicious activity around that time of day.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
