The search for two people who disappeared while canoeing on Long Whitefish Lake has come to a tragic end.
According to the RCMP, the bodies of a man and a woman who had gone missing last Tuesday were found in the lake Friday. Long Whitefish Lake is about 130 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert.
The canoers were reported overdue Tuesday evening, prompting a search by Big River RCMP, community members, Ministry of Environment conservation officers and the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association.
The couple’s canoe was found early on in the search, but it took until Friday to locate their bodies. Their families have been notified of their deaths.
