More Regina residents now can dive into the debate about a new indoor pool in the Queen City.
Two weeks ago, the City of Regina launched a feasibility study to examine the possibility of putting the facility at the site of the Sportplex, where the Lawson Aquatic Centre currently sits.
On Wednesday, the city started the next phase: An online questionnaire for the public.
Some 40,000 randomly selected households already had an access code to an online survey mailed to them. People who have filled out that survey don’t need to take the public questionnaire.
The city wants input from the public on the plan, including people’s use of the current facilities and their priorities for future aquatic programming.
“The City’s Recreation Master Plan prioritizes a new indoor pool to address a community desire for contemporary spaces and the increasing need for year-round aquatics programming to better serve the competitive and recreation needs of our city,” the City of Regina said in a media release.
“The findings from the feasibility study, including this important community feedback, will inform decisions moving forward.”
The public will get more chances to comment on the plan as it proceeds.
Residents wishing to fill out the questionnaire can do so here. The deadline to respond is Nov. 8.
