That’s one expensive call of nature.
On Friday, the Saskatchewan RCMP issued a media release featuring some of the weirdest calls from October.
On Oct. 10, police got a call about a vehicle speeding on Highway 11 near Prince Albert. Responding officers clocked the car doing 180 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone.
“When officers pulled the vehicle over, the driver said they were driving that speed because a vehicle occupant had to use the bathroom,” the release said. “The driver was charged with Exceed Lawful Posted Speed Limit by More Than 50 Km/h and received a $1,022 fine and a seven-day vehicle impound.”
The same day, Yorkton officers saw a pickup truck pulling an unregistered trailer with a trampoline on it in Canora.
“The trampoline was improperly secured to the trailer and an unrestrained female youth was riding on the trailer attempting to prevent contact between the trampoline and the road surface,” the Mounties reported.
“Officers stopped the vehicle and the driver was charged with Drive Vehicle with Unrestrained Passenger Under 16 and received warnings for having unsecure cargo and an unregistered trailer.”
Between Oct. 8 and 11, officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP and municipal police officers nabbed 48 impaired drivers, charging 34 of them under the Criminal Code.
There also were 1,231 warnings issued, as well as 948 speeding tickets, 56 intersection tickets, 49 distracted driving tickets, 40 seatbelt tickets and nine unsafe passing tickets. There also were 136 vehicle defect inspection notices handed out.
There were 465 other charges laid for non-impaired Criminal Code offences, invalid driver’s licences and invalid vehicle registrations.
