Above-seasonal conditions are expected to persist in Saskatchewan, according to Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips.
“We think the first half of November is going to be very calm and delightful,” Phillips said Monday. “The second half, well, it may turn out to be cooler than the first half but not punishing like the polar vortex is going to arrive.
“My sense is that November may come out to be milder than normal, but not record-breaking as we’ve seen in September and October.”
As of Monday, Environment Canada is forecasting temperatures reaching as high as 11 C by Thursday and Friday.
“It’s going to warm up. We’re going to see some California air coming in with temperatures that are going to be seven or eight degrees warmer than normal,” Phillips added.
As long as pleasant fall weather sticks around, winter will be shorter as a result, according to Phillips.
“For the next couple of weeks and what we’ve had so far has been very un-winter-like,” he said. “I think already we know that winter is shorter this year.”
