A standoff with police that lasted most of the day Saturday has resulted in charges against a Regina man.
The Regina Police Service said officers responded to a gun call in the east alley of the 1200 block of Retallack Street just before 1 p.m. Police were told a man armed with a gun was in the alley shouting threats.
Officers found the man and told him to drop the gun, but he instead ran into a house and refused police demands to come out.
Crisis negotiators and the SWAT team were called in, but the man stayed in the house. Finally, at about 11 p.m., the 33-year-old man was taken into custody.
A search warrant was executed and police found the gun along with ammunition.
The man was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and one count each of possession of a weapon and breach of probation. He made his first court appearance Monday.
