A Regina man woke up Sunday morning to find a body laying on the lawn of his condo complex.
An eyewitness said there was also a big police presence at the complex on Heseltine Road.
“I’m going to say seven SUVs right now, the coroner’s van is here and if I can say, the (forensics) team is here as well too. The body is still laying out on the lawn,” the witness said.
He got a knock on his door from police around 7 a.m. They asked if he heard anything around 3 or 4 in the morning.
“I heard what I thought was backfire or a firecracker or a firework,” he said. “I heard a lot of screaming. I heard a woman screaming. I heard a man screaming. I heard a lot of running and chasing.”
With Diwali celebrations held earlier this month, he first thought it was something similar.
The witness said he saw police taking a few people into custody.
Early Sunday evening, police provided an update confirming a man’s body had been found. Police said they received a call about the body just before 6 a.m. in the 2100 block of Heseltine Road.
Police said it is still early in the investigation and they didn’t have any other details to release.
Editor’s note – 980 CJME removed the name of the witness because he fears for his safety.
