The Regina Police Service is investigating after an officer’s gun accidentally went off inside their vehicle Tuesday.
In a media release, police said the shot went through the roof of the vehicle, which was stopped in the 1400 block of Park Street. The incident happened just after 7 a.m., and wasn’t connected to an investigation or a call for service.
There weren’t any injuries.
The so-called “accidental discharge” will be investigated by the Saskatchewan Police Commission and is subject to review by the RPS Use of Force review committee.
Anyone with information that can assist in the investigation is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500.
