The Regina Police Service is looking into a strange phone call received last Tuesday at an elementary school in the city.
According to police, school officials told their School Resource Officer on Wednesday about a suspicious call that had been made to the school the day before.
The school officials said they had got a call requesting a specific student be dismissed for an appointment; the caller said they were waiting outside to pick up the student.
One of the student’s parents was at the school when the child was dismissed, but the parent said they didn’t make the call.
“The origin of the call is unclear but initial investigation did not turn up any evidence of ill intent,” the police said in a media release, adding they hadn’t received any reports of similar occurrences at other schools.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 305-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
