A Regina man is facing charges after he allegedly fought with police officers on Monday.
Police responded to an apartment building in the 5300 block of Cambridge Avenue around 5:10 a.m., after getting a 9-1-1 call from someone whom police say was “very agitated and aggressive.”
Officers tried to speak to a man who came out of the apartment that the emergency call had come from before police say he began to fight them.
“Officers made several attempts to calm and then contain the male, however, one police officer was struck several times by this individual. Believing the male to be intoxicated by drugs or some other means, the officers requested EMS,” a release by the Regina Police Service read. “The male was taken to hospital as a precaution.”
Police were able to confirm the man who had fought with the officers was the person who had made the 9-1-1 call.
A 31-year-old man is being charged with assaulting a peace officer and is expected to make his first appearance in Provincial Court on Jan. 26.
