A number of out-of-province cases affected Saskatchewan’s COVID totals Saturday.
Within the province, there were 77 new cases and 137 recoveries reported.
However, 57 people from Saskatchewan tested positive elsewhere. That means the active total dropped only slightly to 650.
No new deaths were reported Saturday.
There 109 people with the virus in hospital, with 34 in the ICU.
According to the Ministry of Health:
- As of December 11th, there are 77 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 81,780 reported cases.
- The new cases are located in the North West (3), North Central (5), Saskatoon (22), Central East (21), Regina (11), South West (1), South Central (2), South East (8), and four (4) new cases have pending residence information.
- Two (2) cases with pending residence information were assigned to the South East (from December 9 (2)) zone.
- Fifty-seven (57) Saskatchewan residents who tested out-of-province were added to the Far North West (4), Far North East (9), North West (6), North Central (1), Saskatoon (10), Central West (2), Central East (5), Regina (5), South West (2), South Central (2), South East (8) and pending (3) zones.
- 81,780 cases are confirmed:
- 19,921 cases are from the North area (8,856 North West, 8,228 North Central, 2,837 North East)
- 19,499 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- 15,951 cases are from the Regina area
- 10,314 cases are from the South area (2,198 South West, 3,009 South Central, 5,107 South East)
- 9,384 cases are from the Far North area (4,408 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,435 Far North East)
- 6,167 cases are from the Central area (1,446 Central West, 4,721 Central East)
- 544 cases have pending residence information.
- 650 cases are considered active and 80,193 cases are considered recovered.
- Almost one-quarter (23.4%) of new cases are in the age category of 5 to 11.
- Just over one-third (34.9%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated.
- As of December 11th, a total of 109 individuals are hospitalized; including 75 inpatient hospitalizations, and 34 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 109 patients, 68 (62.4%) were not fully vaccinated.
- In addition to SK ICU counts, there is one (1) resident receiving out-of-province care in hospital. As this patient is receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard.
- No (0) new deaths reported today. 937 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.1%
- 1,297,912 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of December 9th, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,096,047 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 1,302,852 tests performed per million population.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 61 (5.1 new cases per 100,000).
