Saskatchewan reported its lowest day of COVID cases since the summer on Sunday.
There were just 37 new cases in the province’s daily COVID update. That’s the lowest such number since Aug. 3.
There were also 75 recoveries, dropping the active total to 612.
For the third straight day, there were no deaths from the virus.
According to the Ministry of Health:
- As of December 12th, there are 37 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 81,817 reported cases.
- The new cases are located in the Far North West (1), North West (2), North Central (5), Saskatoon (9), Central East (4), Regina (10), South West (1), South Central (1), South East (3), and one (1) new case has pending residence information.
- Three (3) cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Central East (from December 9 (1)), and South East (from December 6 (1), December 10 (1)) zones.
- 81,817 cases are confirmed
- 19,928 cases are from the North area (8,858 North West, 8,233 North Central, 2,837 North East)
- 19,508 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- 10,321 cases are from the South area (2,199 South West, 3,010 South Central, 5,112 South East)
- 15,961 cases are from the Regina area
- 9,385 cases are from the Far North area (4,409 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,435 Far North East)
- 6,172 cases are from the Central area (1,446 Central West, 4,726 Central East)
- 542 cases have pending residence information
- 612 cases are considered active and 80,268 cases are considered recovered.
- More than one-quarter (27.0%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
- More than one-half (54.3%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated.
- As of December 12th, a total of 109 individuals are hospitalized; including 74 inpatient hospitalizations, and 35 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 109 patients, 68 (62.4%) were not fully vaccinated.
- In addition to SK ICU counts, there is one (1) resident receiving out-of-province care in hospital. As this patient is receiving care out-of-province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard.
- No (0) new deaths reported today. 937 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
- 1,299,103 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of December 9th, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,096,047 tests performed per million. The national rate of 1,302,852 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 56 (4.7 new cases per 100,000).
