One person is dead after a house fire Monday on Montreal Street.
According to a media release from Regina Fire and Protective Services, crews responded at 5:23 a.m., to a blaze on the 1600 block of Montreal Street.
“Upon arrival, crews found the basement fully involved with fire,” Fire Chief Layne Jackson said in the release. “Firefighters attacked the blaze, controlled the fire, and ensured nearby houses were not affected. After making entry to perform searches, a deceased individual was discovered.”
The release didn’t identify the person or their gender.
Investigators from the fire department are trying to determine the cause of the fire. The Regina Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service also will be involved in the investigation.
