Multiple fires kept Regina firefighters busy on Wednesday night.
Crews were called to McVeety School in the Hillsdale neighbourhood around 6 p.m. after someone inside the school claimed to see smoke in the building.
“We attended, our crews searched the property, and they actually found a small fire in the maintenance room,” Deputy Fire Chief Gord Hewitt said.
“There was no significant damage or anything like that. (Crews) just had to spend some time clearing smoke out of the building but they managed to control the fire pretty quickly.”
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but Hewitt says an investigator is on the scene.
A house fire on Winnipeg Street in the Uplands neighbourhood was next on the agenda for fire crews.

Firefighters responded around 9 p.m., and upon arrival they found smoke coming from the home.
“There was significant damage to the home. It looks like it started in the basement and spread to the main floor,” Hewitt said. “They managed to control the fire quickly.”
A cause for that fire has not been determined yet.
