An investigation is underway after a 59-year-old male inmate died at the Regina Reintegration Unit on Smith Street.
According to a release from the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, the man was found unresponsive in his room on Thursday evening. Corrections staff called paramedics and started life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at around 10:20 p.m.
The ministry said the death wasn’t related to COVID-19, but didn’t release the cause of death or the man’s identity.
