'Considering the circumstances ... this is best-case scenario,' Cole Cusitar said.
It’s too cold … even for Iceville.
Regina Exhibition Association Limited announced Wednesday the skating rink at Mosaic Stadium will not open Friday at noon as scheduled due to the extreme cold. Also, the New Year’s Eve fireworks show has been cancelled.
The rink’s official opening has been postponed to 10 a.m. on Saturday, when it’s expected to be a touch warmer — with a high of -20 C.
“The threshold for keeping Iceville open on a particular day is -20 degrees without windchill,” REAL said in a release. “This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of REAL’s guests.”
Anyone who had a time booked for Friday can get a refund.
Bookings can be made by visiting Iceville.ca until Feb. 3. The cost to skate is $5 per person.
