Visitation restrictions are once again being applied for long-term care homes in the Regina region, which includes Cupar, Lumsden, White City and Emerald Park.
According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), this is due to the rising risk of the Omicron variant in the area.
Starting Thursday at 8 a.m, Level 1 restrictions were put in place. Residents can only have two designated people visit, and only one person can visit at a time.
“Family presence limitations will be reviewed regularly and will remain in place until it is safe to return to the previous level of family presence,” a news release by the SHA read.
“Family members and support people who are permitted must follow SHA guidelines for screening, personal protective equipment and physical distancing. Rapid testing is strongly encouraged before, after and upon entering these homes.
“The decision to restrict family presence is not taken lightly. These measures are in place to keep you, your loved ones, and health care workers safe. The Saskatchewan Health Authority is asking the public for their support and co-operation in order to contain the spread of the virus.”
