The North Battleford RCMP has renewed its request for help from the public to find a 34-year-old Battleford woman wanted in connection with a case of alleged child abuse.
The Mounties have been looking for Charmaine Brett Bear — who’s also known as Charmaine Spyglass — since January of last year.
She faces charges of failing to provide the necessaries of life, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, assault and uttering threats.
The RCMP said its investigation began in December of 2020 when the North Battleford RCMP and North Battleford RCMP General Investigation Services received a report of alleged child abuse.
The warrant for Bear’s arrest has been extended into Alberta, as she has been seen in Edmonton. She’s also known to frequent the Lloydminster, North Battleford, Mosquito First Nation and Saskatoon areas.
Bear is described as being 5-foot-6 and 123 pounds, with a slender build, long black hair she’s known to wear tucked up under a ball cap, and brown eyes. She’s known to wear baggy clothing and to wear sunglasses indoors.
Anyone with information about Bear’s whereabouts is asked to call their nearest RCMP detachment or police service, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Lyle Aaron Bear, 34, also has been charged in the case. He faces counts of failing to provide the necessaries of life, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, assault, uttering threats, and assault with a weapon.
He’s to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 18.
The Mounties believe the couple may be travelling together and may have several children with them.
