The City of Regina has put the brakes on the plowing of residential streets.
In a media release Wednesday, the city said the snowfall Tuesday and the snow that’s expected in the coming days prompted it to pause the residential plow that started earlier this week. Instead, the city will shift to a systematic plow.
Crews will be plowing and applying ice control to Category 1 to 3 roads, starting with high-volume, high-speed streets. Then crews will start working on transit routes, collector roads and arterial roads, as well as removing snow ridges from school loading zones when school is out.
On Sunday, the residential plow is to resume, running from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day until it’s done. The city said that’s expected to take eight days, weather permitting.
“Roads which were already plowed during the Residential Snow Plow will not be plowed again at this time,” the city said in its release.
