A 24-year-old woman is facing charges after supposedly spitting on a police officer on New Year’s Eve.
On Friday, police responded to the 100 block of Froom Crescent near Crescent Park in the city’s east end after getting calls regarding two sisters fighting.
After arriving and assessing the situation, police determined the 21-year-old victim had injuries consistent with being assaulted. She went on to claim her sister had also thrown a laptop at a wall.
As police were arresting the 24-year-old suspect, she allegedly spit at one of the officers, hitting him in the forehead.
The accused woman is facing charges for assaulting a police officer, mischief and assault causing bodily harm.
She is expected to make her first court appearance on Feb. 28.
