The City of Regina has delayed the start of its residential street plow by at least one day.
On Thursday, the city announced the program was to start Friday. On Friday morning, a media release was issued saying residential streets are to be plowed starting Saturday.
Plowing is to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. every day over the next 12 days, weather permitting.
Crews were to begin working in the Belvedere/Rosemont, Transcona, The Creeks and Greens on Gardiner neighbourhoods on Friday, but that work has been postponed. Plowing is to start in other areas of the city Saturday.
The city said streets done as part of the residential plowing that began in December before being delayed won’t be plowed again during this stretch.
However, the city once again noted that if Regina receives snowfall of five centimetres or more, a systematic plow will be needed.
“This means crews will be reassigned to complete plowing and applying ice control starting with high-volume, high-speed roads, followed by transit routes, collector and arterial roads, as well removing snow ridges from school loading zones,” the city’s release read. “In addition, city crews will clear sidewalks adjacent to city facilities, parks and transit stops.”
