A 16-year-old boy has been charged after the same Regina convenience store was robbed three times in a span of six weeks.
According to the Regina Police Service, the first robbery of the store in the 1700 block of Dewdney Avenue East occurred Dec. 2 at about 3:30 a.m. Officers were told a lone male armed with a gun had demanded money and merchandise, and took off after his demands were met.
Then, on Dec. 8 at about 2:45 a.m., police responded to a similar call at the same store in the Glencairn neighbourhood. The suspect, again armed with a gun, made off with cash and merchandise.
Finally, on Thursday at around 2:20 a.m., officers again were sent to the store for a report of an armed robbery. This time, a canine unit located the suspect in a nearby yard, where he was arrested.
“A search warrant was conducted on the male’s residence and evidence related to the three incidents were seized,” the police said in a media release. “As a result, the male was charged for all three incidents.”
The teen, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with robbery, robbery with a firearm, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, use of an imitation firearm during the commission of an indictable offence, possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, and carrying a concealed weapon.
He made his first appearance in Friday.
