A man described as an “unwanted guest” at a Regina business was in court Monday to answer to charges of allegedly assaulting two police officers.
The 41-year-old man was arrested Sunday around 4:30 p.m., after officers were sent to a business in the 1700 block of Dewdney Avenue East for a report of an “unwanted guest.” Staff at the store said the man was bothering customers and refused to leave when asked.
Officers who arrived told the man he should leave, but he ignored them. When one officer took the man’s arm, he allegedly began struggling with that officer and then allegedly spit into the face of a second officer.
The male eventually was taken into custody.
Police said the first officer didn’t suffer any serious injuries. The second officer had to begin a medical protocol that’s required when an officer comes into contact with bodily fluids.
The suspect was charged with assaulting a peace officer, assaulting a peace officer causing bodily harm, mischief under $5,000, and possession of a methamphetamine.
