The search for a Tribune-area man who disappeared during Monday’s blizzard has come to a tragic end.
In a media release Wednesday evening, the RCMP said the body of Abraham Neufeld was found by a volunteer searcher in a remote area approximately 1.6 kilometres west of Bromhead.
The Mounties said Neufeld’s family had been notified of his death.
The RCMP believes Neufeld, 39, became disoriented as he tried to walk home after his tractor got stuck Monday night. The tractor was found running Tuesday morning about three-quarters of a mile east of Tribune, which is roughly 50 kilometres south of Weyburn.
Helena Neufeld, Abraham’s sister-in-law, said earlier Wednesday he loved working on the tractor and spending time in his mechanics shop.
She believes he was doing both of those things Monday night before he went missing.
“As I was understanding, he was clearing the road from his house to his shop so that he could have a clear road to go to work the next day,” she said.
The Mounties said grid searches had been done by searchers on foot and snowmobile before Neufeld’s body was discovered.
