The Regina Police Service’s second deputy chief is the first woman named to the role in the police service’s 130-year history.
The RPS announced Monday the promotion of Lorilee Davies from superintendent to the rank of deputy chief. She and Dean Rae will serve as deputies to Chief Evan Bray.
Since joining the service in 1996, Davies has worked in uniform and investigative divisions. She also has been a member of the public safety and crisis negotiation teams, and has been part of the Regina Police Association.
“Recently, as the Superintendent of Community Services, Davies led many operational and proactive community initiatives,” the police said in a media release. “Over the past couple of years, her diverse assignments have spanned managing large-scale protests and labour disputes to providing oversight as a Critical Incident Commander on Emergency Services calls.”
She also developed and leads a Truth and Reconciliation committee and strategy for the service.
Very proud today to take on a new role @reginapolice in improving community safety & well-being. Thanks to @evanjbray and our Board for having trust & confidence in me. Also thanks to @CACP_ACCP and @ChiefPalmer for the mentorship. I’m beyond excited! #humbled #Deputy pic.twitter.com/0PVTQ3RaI1
