The City of Regina has dropped its requirement for wearing masks in city facilities and on buses, but it said in a media release Monday that mask use is still “strongly encouraged.”
On Monday at 12:01 a.m., the Saskatchewan government lifted its public health order calling for masks to be worn in public indoor places. The city removed that requirement to align with the province’s public health orders.
“The health, safety and well-being of employees and residents remain a top priority for the City of Regina,” the city said in the release. “We will continue to make masks available for visitors to city facilities and to riders on Regina Transit.”
The city said it will continue to speak with public health officials as it monitors the state of COVID-19 in the region.
Henry Baker Hall reopens
Starting this week, Henry Baker Hall at City Hall will again be open to the public.
It had been closed due to COVID restrictions.
“Residents who wish to watch or address committees of council or city council as a delegate about a matter on the scheduled meeting agenda will now have the option to do so either virtually or in person,” the city said in a release.
Anyone who wants to attend as a delegate in person or virtually must register with the Office of the City Clerk by email (clerks@regina.ca) or by calling 306-777-7262 no later than 1 p.m. on the Thursday before the meeting.
