A 33-year-old man is facing a charge of arson with disregard for human life after a fire at a home in Regina.
Police and fire crews responded to the 3700 block of Dewdney Avenue on Saturday.
When they arrived, the basement was on fire and a physically challenged man was unable to get out of the house.
Firefighters were able to rescue the man from the home. He didn’t sustain any injuries.
Police started an investigation into the blaze and learned from witnesses that the fire had been set by a man who then fled southbound towards Mosaic Stadium.
The man was identified by name and police say they arrested him without any incident.
The suspect is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.
