Investigators on Tuesday said there wasn’t a criminal aspect to the fire that killed a man last Thursday on 10th Avenue in Regina.
Regina Fire and Protective Services crews responded just after 1:45 a.m., to a call about a fire in a multi-family row house in the 2700 block of 10th Avenue.
As firefighters extinguished the fire, they found a person dead in the house. Police officers at the scene were told about the body at about 2:15 a.m., and called for a coroner.
On Tuesday, a media release from the Regina Police Service said they and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service had identified the man and notified his next of kin.
“Further investigation has clarified the circumstances of the death,” the release added. “It does not appear, at this time, that there is a criminal aspect to the fire or the death of the male resident.”
The coroners service will continue to investigate the fire. Anyone with information that could help is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
