It’s time to ring those phones!
Telemiracle 46 is being held in Regina this weekend and, after two years in a pandemic, the telethon is going to look a lot closer to normal.
“Some of that Sask. talent will be live on the stage. We have the hosts coming back that everyone knows on the stage. We’ve got the banks and banks and banks of Kinsmen and Kinettes answering phones,” said local musician Jeffery Straker, who has been involved in the telethon for years.
Straker joined the Greg Morgan Morning Show with guest host Kevin Martel on Friday.
“On TV actually, it’s going to look very similar to what it always has been,” Straker said. “There’s just the mechanics in the background that still have COVID precautions guiding them.”
The telethon starts Saturday at 9 p.m. and runs until Sunday at 5 p.m. This year’s theme is “Rooted in Saskatchewan.”
“My favourite thing about the telethon over the 20 hours is all that Saskatchewan talent that has auditioned and comes from every nook and cranny across the province,” said Straker.
Through the Kinsmen Foundation, the money raised helps provide people with specialized mobility and medical equipment.
