A semi driver is dead after his rig collided with a train near Hitchcock.
The crash happened Monday at about 12:20 p.m., at an uncontrolled railway crossing on Township Road 34 northwest of Hitchcock. That village is about 15 kilometres northwest of Estevan.
A 42-year-old man from Carnduff who was driving the semi was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The RCMP didn’t release his name.
There weren’t any injuries reported on the train.
The RCMP is still investigating the crash.
It was the second fatal collision involving a train in as many days. A 65-year-old man from the Ochapowace First Nation died Sunday near Waldron after the vehicle he was driving collided with a train.
