The Meadow Lake RCMP has charged an employee of a long-term care home with fraud after an investigation that lasted more than three years.
Police received the initial report on Dec. 7, 2018 regarding potential fraud at the care home. Since receiving it, officers collected evidence and conducted interviews with many witnesses.
According to the detachment, the investigation determined the employee defrauded 11 residents as well as the long-term care home itself between 2016 and 2018.
As a result, a 62-year-old woman from Rapid View is charged with fraud over $5,000, fraud under $5,000, forgery, and use, trafficking or possession of a forged document.
She’s to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on April 18.
