A.J. Hendy is back in green and white after leaving the Saskatchewan Roughriders prematurely during the 2021 CFL season.
The Roughriders announced Monday they had signed the American defensive back.
Hendy played 14 games with the Riders in 2021, beginning the year as the team’s starting strong-side linebacker. But he eventually was bumped off the game-day roster.
On Nov. 25, Riders head coach Craig Dickenson said Hendy was unhappy with his playing time and had left the team.
During the season, Hendy made 14 tackles and seven special-teams tackles and recorded an interception.
In 2016, the University of Maryland product signed as an undrafted free agent with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. In 2017-18, he was on the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice roster before signing with the Houston Texans in 2019.
Hendy played for the XFL’s New York Guardians in 2020.
