The outside doors were locked at a Regina elementary school for a good chunk of Tuesday after what was believed to be an online threat.
Police got a call just before 10 a.m. about a message that a student at a southeast Regina elementary school had received online. The principal of the school found out about the message and reported it to the school resource office as it appeared to be a threat or warning.
The school was secured — locking the outside doors — and police began their investigation.
Eventually, police said a 13-year-old was identified as the person who sent the message and they were arrested at a home. The teen is charged with uttering threats.
In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, because of the 13-year-old’s age, they cannot be named publicly.
