8:30 – Canada’s carbon tax is increasing to $50 a tonne today. The move is expected to add 2.2 cents to the cost of a litre of gasoline, for 11 cents total per litre, and SaskEnergy says the average residential consumer should expect an annual increase of about $54 (or 6%) on their 2022 natural gas bills. Premier Scott Moe and other provincial leaders called for the federal government to postpone the increase, and a recent study found 60% of households in Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba will pay more in carbon taxes than they get in rebates this year. Dan McTeague is a gas price analyst and president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, and McTeague joins John to share his thoughts on the increase.

According to CSIS, Canada is the target of thousands of these attacks each and every day. Tina Beudry-Mellor, partner at Deloitte leading Cyber Strategy, joins John to discuss these attacks and what can be done to minimize the threat, and share her thoughts on a few of the top stories of the day.

Kristin Theis-Novack is the donor coordinator for the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s organ and tissue donation program, and she joins Gormley to tell us a bit about the program, and why it’s important to register your wishes as soon as possible.
