The University of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s basketball team showed it’s not how you start, but how you finish.
The Huskies captured the silver medal after losing 85-72 to the Carleton Ravens in the U Sports championship game on Sunday in Edmonton.
The Dogs knocked off the No. 1 team in the nation on route to the title game, proving they didn’t deserve their underdog status as the lowest seed in the eight-team tournament.
Nobody could have predicted the team ending up in the championship game after an abrupt coaching change less than a month earlier in the middle of the team’s playoff run.
It was the Huskies’ first trip to the final since winning the program’s only national title in 2010.
