Fire hits fourplex in Regina

An early morning fire broke out at a fourplex Sunday in Regina’s Rosemont neighbourhood.
The fire department said it sparked at 4811 4th Avenue.
“Smoke was billowing out of one of the apartments,” described Deputy Fire Chief Neil Sundeen when crews first arrived around 6:30 a.m.
He said they got there in under five minutes of being called. They were able to keep the blaze to one unit.
“We’re very pleased to say there was nobody inside the suite at the time of the fire when we arrived,” he added.
Sundeen said while the fire was quickly brought under control, there is considerable smoke and water damage.
He’s thankful the fire didn’t spread.
“Any time you have a building that size, you always worry of it spreading to other parts and the quick action of the crews kept it contained to that one unit.”
Sundeen said a fire investigator is now determining the cause.
