A coroner’s inquest will probe the death of a man who was shot during a confrontation with RCMP officers on the Fishing Lake First Nation in August of 2019.
The inquest into the death of Lucien Silverquill has been set for May 16-20 in Yorkton.
According to a media release, officers from the Wadena RCMP were called to a home on the First Nation on Aug. 27, 2019, just before 1:30 p.m., for a complaint of a man causing a disturbance.
Two RCMP officers responded and found a man with a knife outside a home. Shortly after the officers arrived, at least one of them shot and injured the man.
Silverquill was taken by ambulance to the Wadena Hospital, where he died.
