A workplace incident involving an overhead crane has resulted in a $7,000 fine for Brandt Industries Canada Ltd.
During an appearance April 13 in Regina Provincial Court, the company was found guilty of violating Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
It was charged with contravening a clause stating the company “did not provide approved industrial protective headwear and require a worker to use it where there is a risk of injury to the head of a worker, resulting in the serious injury of a worker.”
On Feb. 6, 2019, a worker was hurt while operating an overhead crane.
The court fined the company $5,000 and added a surcharge of $2,000.
