A 21-year-old Regina man is going to jail in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that occurred in the city in September.
According to court documents, Tyrell James Hume pleaded guilty Thursday to one charge of failing to stop after a collision resulting in death. He was sentenced to 120 days in jail and two years of probation, along with a two-year driving prohibition.
The collision happened Sept. 17 at about 11 p.m., in the area of Sixth Avenue and Hamilton Street.
At the time, police said a 67-year-old Regina woman was crossing from the south side of Sixth Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle that was northbound on Broad Street.
The vehicle turned west on Sixth and left the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital, where she died. Her name wasn’t released by police.
Regina police officers found the vehicle Sept. 20 and arrested the man they believed was the driver.
