Multiple charges laid after shots fired in Regina

A 14-year-old boy was among those charged after shots allegedly were fired Saturday in Regina.

Regina police said the teen was found with a sawed-off rifle in the waistband of his pants after a call was received at around 5:15 p.m., about shots being fired toward a group of young people in the area of Sixth Avenue and Athol Street.

Police searched the area and found three young people, including one — the 14-year-old — who matched the suspect’s description.

A 17-year-old boy was found with a machete in his possession. The third person was released without a charge.

Police also found the people from the group at which the shots allegedly had been fired. Two were in breach of conditions of their release, two had outstanding warrants, and one was in possession of a bullet.

The 14-year-old appeared in court Monday, as did the two people charged with breaches. The 17-year-old found with the machete, the 15-year-old who had the bullet, and the two youths wanted on warrants are to be in court July 4.

Second shooting

A 15-year-old boy is facing a total of eight charges after police found bullet holes in a garage on a property in the 1400 block of Princess Street.

On Sunday at around 1:05 p.m., police got a call about gunshots. Officers searched the area and found a teen who was wanted on outstanding warrants.

Investigation led to the recovery of a sawed-off firearm and to the bullet holes in the garage.
