A man who pleaded guilty to child pornography charges last June has been declared a long-term offender.
James Stuart Millie was also arrested in 2008 on child pornography offences.
During an appearance at Regina Court of Queen’s Bench on Friday, the 50-year-old Regina man was sentenced to six years in prison, with 30 months’ credit for time served.
Court documents say after Millie spends 42 months behind bars, he’ll undergo long-term supervision for 10 years.
According to a police media release from October of 2019, Saskatchewan’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit received a number of complaints about the uploading of child pornography to an Internet image-sharing website.
After the police investigation identified the Regina home from which the images were being uploaded, the ICE Unit searched the home in November. Officers found child pornography, leading to the seizure of computers, digital storage devices and a cellphone.
Millie was arrested at the home and charged with possession, making available and accessing child pornography.
He pleaded guilty to the charges on June 17, 2021 and a dangerous offender hearing was held in April of this year.
On Friday, Mille was declared a long-term offender and was sentenced to 48 months in prison on the charge of possessing child pornography, 24 months consecutive for making the pornographic material available, and 24 months concurrent for accessing the material.
