980 CJME has won two awards for outstanding journalism.
The Radio Television Digital News Association announced its awards for the prairie region on Tuesday. The RTDNA is made up of radio and TV newsrooms across Canada.
980 CJME won for breaking news coverage in a small or medium market (for reports from the site of a train derailment near Craven on Dec. 28) and for feature reporting in a small or medium market (for Lisa Schick’s tour of the Muskowekwan Indian Residential School in June).
Our story on the derailment can be seen here. Schick’s story on the last residential school standing in Saskatchewan can be heard below.
The two stories now will be considered nationally at the RTDNA Canada Awards next month.
