Premier Scott Moe is off to the United States to promote Saskatchewan.
It’s the third business trip for Moe in the past four months. He also went a trade mission to Germany in March, then ventured to the United Arab Emirates in May.
According to a media release, Moe is heading to New York to “underscore Saskatchewan’s advancements in the sustainable development of our natural resources and ability to meet challenges related to energy security, such as carbon capture and enhanced oil recovery, small modular reactors and nuclear energy, and developing our critical minerals and rare earth elements.”
Moe also is to travel to Washington, D.C., along with Bronwyn Eyre, Saskatchewan’s newly appointed Minister of Justice and Attorney General. They’re to promote the province as a source of energy and other natural resource commodities.
“Saskatchewan is well-positioned to be a supplier of critical minerals and energy needs to support continental energy security, which is of vital importance since Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine,” Moe said in the release.
“We will advocate for Saskatchewan as a leader and a sustainable solution for the U.S. to achieve their energy security goals in the face of global challenges, be it war, industrial emissions or general quality of life.”
The delegation is to leave for New York City on Sunday. The group is to be in Washington on Tuesday and is scheduled to return to Saskatchewan on June 10.
