A Yorkton man was arrested Thursday and charged with luring a child through a social media app.
After Saskatchewan’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit investigated activity on a popular social media platform, police executed a search warrant at a Yorkton home.
Officers seized several electronic devices and arrested Mitchell Paul Carpenter, a 26-year-old Yorkton resident.
Carpenter, police said, was released with “numerous conditions” after appearing before a justice of the peace.
Luring a child is a criminal offence in Canada, and carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.
Saskatchewan’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit is made up of officers from Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, and the RCMP.
