The Co-op Refinery Complex (CRC) is doing its part to create some fun times at McDermid Community School.
The refinery donated $60,000 towards the installation of new playground equipment at the school. The structure was unveiled at the school on Thursday.
“At the heart of our commitment to community is the special relationship we continue to share with McDermid and its students,” Jen Stiglitz, the CRC’s general manager, said in a media release.
“We’re proud to invest in our young people and to continue giving back to the places where we work, live and play.”
The release said the refinery and the school have worked closely for more than 25 years. In recent years, refinery employees have read to students, volunteered at the school’s annual Christmas lunch, collected donations of clothing and gifts, and sent school supplies to the students.
“The Co-op Refinery Complex and McDermid Community School have enjoyed a lasting partnership, one that continues to provide much-needed support to our students and their families,” McDermid principal Bob Phillips said.
“We can’t thank the refinery, and its employees, enough for all it does.”
