Almost 1,000 different groups around Saskatchewan are benefiting from more than $2 million in charitable gaming grants.
Each quarter, 25 per cent of all net proceeds from SLGA-licenced charitable gaming events like bingos and raffles are shared with community groups and organizations.
This quarter, the grants add up to about $2.2 million. Groups in the Yorkton area received a total of $217,499, organizations in Humboldt and the surrounding region got $128,609, the Weyburn and Estevan region received $102,609, the Moose Jaw area got $91,820, and the North Battleford region received $70,232.
In a statement, SLGA Minister Lori Carr said volunteers and charitable groups provide “strength and vitality” to the province.
“Charitable gaming grants recognize the efforts these groups and organizations make to better their community by providing additional financial support,” Carr said.
