As school wraps up for the year, students of all ages said they’re glad to see the year behind them and summer plans unfolding ahead.
Matthew James Hutcheson just finished Grade 1 at Buena Vista School in Saskatoon. His mom, Marie, said the year went well, considering all the things they were dealing with.
“(I’m) excited about being able to be done this journey,” she said. “Just like we are every year.”
Matthew said he loves going to the lake and the cabin, and his mom confirmed both are on the summer agenda.
Carter Taysup just finished Grade 6 at the same school. It was his first year there, he says his favourite part of the year was making new friends. He also enjoyed gym and math classes.
This summer, Taysup said he has some unique plans.
“I’m a bus spotter, so I usually go look at buses and take pictures,” Taysup said.
New Flyer buses are his favourites. He said he’ll watch for them downtown.
Jett Moldenhauer said he’s looking ahead to his birthday, which is coming up July 2. He’s finishing Grade 5, and can’t wait to celebrate at the lake.
“I once did a flip off the boat,” he said.
Finishing another school year is exciting for Leila, who just wrapped up her time as a Grade 11 student at Aden Bowman Collegiate in Saskatoon.
“It’s really exciting, but kind of scary,” she said.
Thinking ahead to her senior year, she is already planning to study fine arts at university.
This summer, she’s thrilled to be heading to Edmonton to see Shawn Mendes perform. She said she’s a big fan, and can’t wait to see him in concert.
In Regina, students in the Public School Division wrapped up the year on Tuesday, while students in the Catholic School Division finish up on Wednesday.
