A 40-year-old Regina man is facing a handful of charges after an incident at the Pasqua Hospital.
Around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, police officers were with a man receiving medical treatment, according to a release issued by the Regina Police Service.
He was getting treatment after riding his bicycle into a truck that was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Hamilton Street and 12th Avenue earlier in the day.
The man allegedly pulled a knife on an officer and a civilian at the scene, then refused to acknowledge police commands to drop the knife.
One of the officers deployed their CEW, also known as a Taser, which allowed police to safely take the man into custody.
No one was hurt in the incident.
The 40-year-old is facing charges including identity fraud, carrying a concealed weapon, assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer while threatening to use a weapon, and breaking and entering. He was to appear in court Wednesday.
“The deployment of the CEW/Taser is documented through reports and will be reviewed by a Use of Force Review Board, which is a panel within the Regina Police Service, made up of experienced officers,” the release by the police read. “All uses of force are also reported to the Saskatchewan Police Commission.”
