It would appear pleas by police and SGI to use seatbelts and car seats are still falling on some deaf ears in Saskatchewan.
In a tweet Friday, the Saskatchewan RCMP said an officer from the Morse detachment pulled over a van doing 154 kilometres per hour in a 110 km/h zone.
In addition to the driver, the Mounties said the van was carrying three kids under the age of five, none of whom were restrained in a car seat or by a seatbelt.
“The officer installed the car seats (which were in the van, not in use) + ensured all were buckled up before letting them go,” the RCMP tweet said.
The tweet added the officer gave the driver a $731 ticket for speeding and three $175 tickets for the car seat/seatbelt violations (one for each child).
Last week, the RCMP did 44 car seat inspections during a three-day check stop in Chamberlain and gave out four car seats through an SGI grant.
